Mordisco Expands Its Venezuelan Offerings to Barrel & Bloom in Linworth

The Mordisco food truck has been a favorite at Olentangy River Brewing Company for a few years now. The family-run Venezuelan truck supplements the house beers and coffee from Roosevelt Coffeehouse with breakfast burritos, tequeños, arepas, and more.

And now they’ve brought a second truck to Barrel & Bloom in Linworth!

Barrel & Bloom is a combined coffee shop and bar operated by Endeavor Brewing & Spirits, whose original home is in Grandview. Last year they opened up in the former Random Precision Brewing Company space (next door to the excellent Aardvark Wine & Beer and its Dive Baar).

(Side note: I absolutely love the coffee shop/bar combo; here are Columbus’ best!)

Mordisco’s menu ranges from small bites to breakfast, empanadas to bowls to arepas.

You can start with a generous portion of sweet plantains, heavily dusted with cheese.

Or their delightful tequeños, breaded cheese sticks. Most dishes are served with their cilantro sauce; you will find yourself ordering extra.

The Venezuelan breakfast lets you choose between shredded beef or chicken, served with scrambled eggs, black beans, plantains, avocado, cheese, and little triangles of fried arepas.

The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich came out a little smushed but had a great flavor. I added a little of the cilantro sauce.

I include their breakfast burrito in my list of the Best Breakfast Burritos in Columbus. It’s simple but oh so good: scrambled egg, American cheese, bacon, tater tots, and avocado.

Kudos to their chicken quesadilla as well!

And their arepas are not to be missed. They feature the Full Equipo with everything, the carne asada, or the one pictured here, the Reina Pepiada (aka The Queen) with shredded chicken in a creamy cilantro mayonnaise with avocados.
