There’s no shortage of great pizza in Columbus, especially when it comes to our hometown style, and we were recently re-introduced to Massey’s Pizza.

Today Massey’s features a dozen locations across central Ohio (and one on Pawley’s Island, SC!). They’re considered one of Columbus’ first pizza shops, originating when the Massucci brothers added pizza in 1949 to their Grandview Italian restaurant.

They dish up a full menu of Columbus-style and deep dish pies, a big selection of subs, plus appetizers. Some locations like Gahanna offer an old school lunch buffet as well!

It’s hard to argue with their classic thin-crust style, especially when it’s piled high with pepperoni that’s slightly curling up and crisping around the edge.

The subs are massive, too. We can attest to the quality of their meatball sub and their signature Great Guido Italian sub.

One of the surprise hits on our recent visit was the deep dish pizza.

We got one loaded with sausage and pepperoni, and we had a lot of leftovers! (No complaints there.)

It’s also hard to argue with their cinnamon dunkers: pizza dough cooked up and topped with cinnamon and icing.

Most Massey’s locations offer a lunch buffet, and a couple of their stores – Clintonville and Canal Winchester – are full sports bars as well.
