Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- Fukuryu Ramen announced the launch of a new concept Izakaya Ryu, an eatery featuring small plates, bao, bincho grilled items, ramen, sake, and more. It’s located at 1600 W. Lane Ave. in Upper Arlington.
- Two new businesses celebrate their grand opening in Historic Dublin at noon today: Uncorked Wine Tastings and Apothecary Bourbon and Cigar Bar. They sit at 30 and 32 S. High St., respectively. Uncorked features a selection of wines by the glass and bottle, while Apothecary focuses on, like its name implies, bourbon and cigars!
- The new operators of the Capitol Cafe in the lower floor of the Ohio Statehouse celebrated their grand opening this week. The new cafe is run by L.A. Catering, a division of Lifecare Alliance. It’s open for breakfast and lunch weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can see their menu here.
- Si Senor announced that its Grandview location is reopening for dinner service.
- A new brunch-slinging food truck called Turn and Burn Kitchen has begun serving regularly at Parsons North Brewing.
- Rambling House Music Bar announced that they’ll be closing their doors on Oct. 1 of this year. The music hall and bar has been around for nearly 11 years, and is currently looking for a buyer who might keep it open.
- Bareburger is getting ready to open a second Columbus location at 4206 Worth Ave. in the Easton Gateway, in the former Melt Bar & Grilled space.
- COLO Butcher Bar at North Market downtown announced that they’re moving across the aisle into the same stall as the COLO Oyster Bar, and will open there on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
- Speakeasy Ramen, a popular ramen spot out of Springfield, Ohio, is now available as ghost kitchen in Columbus as Speakeasy Ramen Express. (We can attest to how good their food is! Read about it as part of A Weekend in Springfield.)
- Business First reported this week that the Barrio location at 1416 W. Fifth Ave. in Grandview will not be reopening as planned. The location near Ohio State’s campus remains open.

- Columbus Oktoberfest, sponsored by Schmidt’s, is this weekend, Sept. 5-7, at the Ohio Expo Center, complete with German food, beer, games, a market, and more. (Don’t forget to check my list of Where To Find German Food in Columbus!)
- The Columbus Halal Food Festival is this Saturday, Sept. 6 from noon to 8 p.m. at Genoa Park downtown.
- Johnson’s Real Ice Cream celebrates its 75th anniversary with a block party at its original Bexley store on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with games, live music, ice cream, and more.
- Columbus Food Adventures’ next Taste Of event is a Taste of Ethiopia on Wednesday, Sept. 10, featuring Ethiopian fare from Lalibela.
- The Downtown Residents Association of Columbus is a Taste of Downtown on Saturday, Sept. 20. More than 30 downtown businesses will be offering tastes, tours, experiences, music, and more.
- Tickets are going fast for the Worthington Farmers Market Market-to-Table fundraiser dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
