Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- Hot Chicken Takeover announced this week that it has closed three more stores, in Grandview, Westerville, and Gahanna, which means the Nashville hot chicken restaurant is down to one location, inside North Market downtown. This follows on the closures of its Powell and Clintonville stores earlier this year. Hot Chicken Takeover was founded in 2014 as a pop-up in Olde Towne East before graduating to the upstairs in North Market. Since that time it has been sold to two separate companies; the current one, Craveworthy Brands, has slowly scaled back locations to just the market.
- A new South Indian restaurant called Triveni Express opened this week at 7668 Sawmill Rd. in Dublin.
- CHA Redefine tea shop holds its grand opening today, Sept. 12, at 1930 W. Henderson Rd. on the northwest side. The chain features tea, matcha, and other trendy drinks.
- Multiple sources have reported that Vick’s Gourmet Pizza in Reynoldsburg has closed after 64 years in business. One of the owners passed away earlier this year, and the other others cited the last effects of the pandemic, construction, and other issues.
- DaFuque Beer Company announced on social media that they have left the Mecca Beverage center on the near east side, but will be opening their own space soon on High Street. An exact location hasn’t been specified yet.
- Dahab Restaurant & Cafe in Hilliard announced that they’ll be closing temporarily before they reopen as a new concept. The Mediterranean eatery is located at 3708 Fishinger Blvd.
- The Old Worthington location of Bubbles Tea & Juice Company has closed.
- One Line Coffee announced that its Short North location has closed for renovations through Sept. 22.
- Likewise Loco Social in Grandview announced that they are closed for renovations until further notice.
A lot of great culinary events this week or coming soon!
- Hank’s Low Country Seafood downtown is hosting its second-annual Oyster Fest this Sunday, Sept. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. It will feature oyster shucking, special dishes and drinks, kid’s activities, and more. Admission is complimentary (with food and drink available for purchase), but you can also buy VIP tickets for special experiences.
- Columbus Food Adventures’ next Supper Club at the Parker House features chef Carrie Young on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
- There are still some tickets left for the Worthington Farmers Market Market-to-Table fundraiser dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
- The Downtown Residents Association of Columbus is a Taste of Downtown on Saturday, Sept. 20. More than 30 downtown businesses will be offering tastes, tours, experiences, music, and more.
