Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:

    • HoneyDip Donuts & Diner announced late Wednesday that they and the businesses in their strip are in danger of closing, as the property’s has been sold for development without their input. In a social media post they asked folks to sign a petition to help them retain their building and stay open.
    • The Columbus Dispatch broke the news this week that the Bier Stube is coming back! The long-time campus dive bar closed almost a year ago as their building was sold. The owner shared that he’s signed a lease at 234 King Ave., in the former Junior’s Bar & Grill space.
    • JT’s Pizza & Pub announced that they’ll be opening a third location, this one in Dublin’s Jerome Village. JT’s started in Linworth and opened a Grandview store earlier this year.
    • Multiple sources have reported that Kyushu Ramen Bar will be opening a third location, this one at 784 Bethel Rd. It joins stores in Grandview and in Lewis Center. (Check out my list of favorite ramen places to learn more!)
    • Hank’s Texas BBQ is adding a second location at 5200 US-42 in Delaware. An exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet.
    • A new coffee shop called Queer Beans Coffee & Tea is set to debut on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 1160 N. High St. in the Short North. It’s sharing a space with the new Little Gay Bookstore.
    • The Bearded Baker has completed their move from the East Market to their own space at 2918 E. Main St. and will open next Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.
    • Happy Little Treats announced that, due to ongoing construction at their new Grandview store, they’ll be staying in their Short North bakery (1203 N. High St.) for another month.
    • Torchy’s Tacos has closed its Polaris location. Shops in Dublin and Gahanna remain open.
    • Flamin Feathers, a New Jersey-based fried chicken chain from the owners of Food Street (which opened in Clintonville earlier this year) has opened its first central Ohio location at 1329 Cameron Ave. in Lewis Center.
    • Firebirds Wood Fired Grill has opened a new location at New Albany.
    • I somehow missed this news, but Tula Taqueria near Polaris was sold in July within the family and is now Senior Antonio’s Street Tacos.
    • The Little Grand Market announced last week that Taesty’s has departed the market.
    • In case you missed the news, Wendell’s Pub in Westerville closed last week after 25 years in business.
    • The Churro Shop soft opens on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1049 Bethel Rd.
    • Honeygrow, a chain based out of Philadelphia and known for their stir-fry dishes, announced they’ll open their first Columbus location at 4784 Morse Rd.

    Some great culinary events!

    • The Columbus Greek Festival is this weekend – Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1 – at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in the Short North.
    • Thurn’s Specialty Meats is hosting another pop-up sale on Saturday, Aug. 30 starting at 7:30 a.m. They reminded everyone to bring cash and arrive early. You can see a menu on their Facebook page.
    • Tequila Fest is this Saturday, Aug. 30 at Land-Grant Brewing from 2-9 p.m.
    • Downtown Dublin and Bridge Park are hosting a Pup Crawl on Sunday, Aug. 31 from 1-4 p.m. Guests can bring their furry friends while they sip and stroll the DORA district.
