Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:

    • A new all-you-can-eat sushi spot called Hokkaido Revolving Sushi Bar soft opened this week at 1466 Bethel Rd. on the northwest side. It features a wide variety of small plates, sushi, sashimi, ramen, poke bowls, and more.
    • Ray Ray’s Hog Pit announced today that they are scaling back some operations. Their brick and mortar stores in Marion and Johnstown have closed, and their truck parked in Linworth will close at the end of this month. “This change allows us to refocus on what we do best—serving award-winning BBQ quickly to the people who love it most,” said owner James Anderson in a social media post. “We want to put our full energy into the locations you know and love, continuing to create the flavors, experiences, and memories that make our BBQ special.”
    • North Market Bridge Park announced last week that Panini Opa will take over the old Saddleberk space at the market. Panini Opa serves a mix of Greek and Italian fare and has a stand-alone store on Sawmill Road already.
    • Local Cantina announced that it will close its Clintonville shop at 3126 N. High St. after Dec. 31 of this year. That location has been open for more than a decade; the owners said their lease was up at the end of the year, and they decided not to renew it. Local Cantina’s nine other central Ohio locations remain open.
    • A new Korean fried chicken spot called Noori Chicken has opened 1454 N. High St., just south of campus. Noori Chicken features fried chicken sandwiches, wings, tenders, and sides.
    • Kyushu Ramen Bar‘s third location – this one at 784 Bethel Rd. – is now officially opened. (I mistakenly reported that it had opened last week, when it had only soft opened.) This joins locations in Grandview and Lewis Center, and features sushi as well as ramen.
    • Multiple sources have reported that plans for a forthcoming Japanese restaurant and whiskey bar were approved for the growing stretch of Walnut Street in Franklinton. Located at 494 W. Walnut St., the home is owned by Blake Compton of Compton Construction, who’s behind construction of nearby businesses like Sweeney’s Walnut Street Tavern.

    Some great culinary events!

    • Next week Friday, Nov. 22 you can get a sneak preview and help raise funds for The Line, the forthcoming restaurant and incubator space from Service Relief! The preview dinner will be hosted by Rockmill Brewery in Lancaster and will feature a menu from chef and Service founder Matt Heaggans (also known as co-owner of Preston’s Burgers). Get your tickets here!
    • The Columbus Independents wraps up its Columbus Restaurant Week this Saturday, Nov. 15. Member restaurants have offering special prix fixe three-course meals.
