Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- Callin’ Your Bluff Coffee, which has been enjoying a very successful run at Land-Grant’s Extension bar, teased us that they’re opening their shop, it seems!
- The local fried chicken chain OX-B’s announced that their Short North location, housed in the now-shuttered BrewDog, will be closing this Sunday, July 26. That leaves seven locations around the greater central Ohio region, with an eighth on the way to Dublin!
- The Louisville-based breakfast chain Biscuit Belly, which just opened its first Columbus location in June, announced that they are purchasing fellow biscuit-centric breakfast chain Maple Street Biscuits. We’ll see how that affects the Columbus market.
- Related to that, the final local Maple Street Biscuits location in Worthington seems to have closed. The signage is down and a ‘for lease’ sign is up. Maple Street, which was owned by Cracker Barrel, entered the central Ohio market with a Polaris store in early 2023, followed by Worthington, and Powell.
- The Ohio State Fair kicks off next week Wednesday, July 29 and runs through August 9! New this year is the renovated food hall with a variety of local vendors. You can get a look at all the specialty foods coming to the Fair here!
- A first Columbus location of the dumpling chain Serious Sanji has opened at 1717 Northwest Blvd. in the former Crispy Coop spot in 5xNW. (Thanks to Columbus Food Adventures for the tip!)
- The folks from Sexton’s Pizza announced the launch of a new concept called Uncle Frico’s Pizza, coming soon to 222 W. Lane Ave. near campus.
- And a new Roman pizza concept called Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk is coming this fall to Upper Arlington.
- CJ’s Soul Food near Polaris announced on social media that it will be closing on July 26 and moving to a new location. They haven’t released details yet on the new space.
- The new owners of Granville’s Buxton Inn announced that they’ll be celebrating a grand reopening on Sept. 23. The historic inn and restaurant has undergone a lot of restoration over recent years, especially following a kitchen fire in 2022.
- Reminder that the final date for Columbus Food Adventures’ Food Hall tour is July 30, after which it will be retired to make way for the new Asian Eats tour.
