    Flour Modern Pasta Bar Introduces Weekend Brunch

    We’ve had many great meals at Flour Modern Pasta Bar since it opened less than a year ago, and they recently sweetened the deal by adding weekend brunch!

    Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., which mix of coffee, cocktails, and unique dishes.

    Like their regular dinner menu, the brunch offerings draw on a variety of international inspirations. The menu is split into three sections: plates, pastas, and drinks.

    We were in a coffee mood on our brunch visit, so we enjoyed a taste of cold brew.

    And a strong French press coffee! (Love the mugs, by the way.)

    We chose four dishes from the brunch plates and one from the pastas. First was the fried chicken and waffles, with a light Cajun seasoning and a side of jaggery syrup. (Jaggery is a type of cane sugar.) I liked the chicken especially, as it was nice and tender.

    The red pepper makhani shakshuka was my favorite dish of the meal. I love a good shakshuka, and not many restaurants do them in Columbus. It’s served with a side of garlic naan dippers; we did have to place an extra order of the dippers to finish off the dish.

    The tiramisu waffle is topped with mascarpone cream, a drizzle of chocolate, dusting of cocoa, then is served with a coffee syrup.

    The poached egg tater tot features a square of potatoes on a bed of chives and dill cream, topped with a poached egg, avocado slices, and capers.

    Overall, lovely presentation and flavors, but like a couple other brunch dishes, we wished the portions were a little larger.

    Given Flour’s focus as a pasta bar, it’s no surprise that pastas appear on the brunch menu, too. Three of the dishes also appear on their dinner menu, with a special breakfast gnocchi added for brunch. We took the ramen carbonara for a spin. It combines bacon, egg yolk, gochujang, parmesan, and togarashi, and we added the optional poached egg.

    Flour’s brunch menu runs Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
