Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- This Saturday, Sept. 12, Bakes By Lo celebrates the grand opening of their new space at 4045 Main St. in Old Hilliard. After six years inside the Center Street Market, they made the move nearby and expanded their space. Read more about the move in my Columbus Monthly Food News column this week!
- This week the gang from Columbus FoodLetter broke the news that chef Jeremy Nelson is opening a new restaurant called Canario at 19 W. Russell St. in the Short North. Nelson has been operating the Umbral Supper Club, where he does specialized coursed dinners. The West Russell space was most recently home to Woodhouse Vegan cafe and Park Service Coffee.
- Sitara Fine Indian Cuisine announced that it will take over the Indian Oven restaurant space at 427 E. Main St. downtown. Last week Indian Oven announced that they’ve left their long-time home to move up to Delaware.
- The JamJam Cajun food truck announced their first storefront, opening on Sept. 23. They’ll be making their home at Sweet Harmony Canal, at 30 Liberty St. in Canal Winchester.
- Hank’s Low Country Oyster Fest is coming up on Sunday, Sept. 27. The festival is free and open to the public, and features oyster shucking, food and drink specials from Hank’s Low County Seafood, music, family activities. You can upgrade your experience with VIP tickets to get bourbon tastings, a buffet, and more extras.
- Next Wednesday, Sept. 16, The Keep Liquor Bar is hosting a Bourbon Heritage Dinner with Watershed Distillery.
- Columbus’ biggest Oktoberfest returns this weekend, Sept. 11-13, at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, with loads of German food and beer, music, competitions, plenty of Schmidt’s cream puffs, and more.
