Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- Fox in the Snow opens its newest location – its sixth overall – at 4201 N. High St. in Clintonville this Saturday, May 2 at 8 a.m. Fox in the Snow also said this location will include the return of their donuts, which originated with their first store; the first 100 guests through the door which each receive a free donut. The new Clintonville shop joins locations in Italian Village, German Village, New Albany, Dublin, and Westerville. A seventh shop in Upper Arlington is on the way.
- A new food truck from the owners of McGinnis’ Grill debuts this Saturday, May 2. Great Glizzies features a menu of fun hot dogs, fries, and corn nuggets. They’ll make their debut at The Daily Growler in Upper Arlington (2812 Fishinger Rd.) from 5-8 p.m. that night.
- This past Wednesday the Worthington Inn officially reopened after a nearly eight-year hiatus. The new version of the Worthington landmark is being run by Wolf’s Ridge Brewing. Get a full preview of it here!
- The Columbus Dispatch broke the news this week that, Garrett Talmadge, owner of Mezcla in Italian Village, is opening a cold tapas and cocktail spot called Coldbar sometime this summer. Mezcla is also currently closed after it was hit by a truck early this year; it should be reopening in the coming weeks.
- Mission Coffee officially opens its new shop on Monday, May 4. The new store is located at 125 E. Woodruff near campus. It joins their existing Short North shop.
- Multiple sources have reported that the former Hot Chicken Takeover location in Gahanna will become a DHC Chicken (the Korean fried chicken chain formerly called CM Chicken). The new shop is located at 109 N. Hamilton Rd.
- Izakaya Ryu, the casual Upper Arlington bar concept from the Fukuryu Ramen team, has closed to become another one of their concepts, Milky Way Matcha.
- Tickets are now on sale for Columbus Monthly‘s spring cocktail competition, taking place at Vitria on the Square on Thursday, May 14. Guests can sip cocktails made with Middle West Spirits from a dozen different area restaurants.
- Many of Columbus Food Adventures‘ seasonal tours return starting this weekend, including the Old Worthington Tour, Taco Truck Tour, and others.
- Many of the region’s farmers markets have been starting up, too! This Saturday, May 2, the Worthington Farmers Market moves outdoors to the historic district. The Dublin Market at Bridge Park also starts up this Saturday. The Clintonville Farmers Market kicked off last week, and the Grandview Heights Farmers Market starts its summer season this Sunday.
