There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest news:
- Nada in the Arena District abruptly closed last night after more than 10 years in business. The modern Mexican eatery, based out of Cincinnati, first opened at 200 W. Nationwide Blvd. in early 2015. I confirmed the closing with a call last night. (Hat-tip to Columbus Foodletter for the tip on the closing.)
- The Bearded Baker, one of the original tenants of the East Market, announced that they are leaving the market to open their own storefront. They’ll remain open at the market until June 18, after which they’ll move to their new location.
- Chef Justin Wotring kicks off his new sandwich pop-up called Caroline’s at Bear’s Bagels in Hilliard on Thursday, June 5. The pop-up runs every other Thursday from 5-8 p.m. throughout the summer.
- The Grandview Farmers Market makes its outdoor debut on Sunday, June 1. The market will run almost every Sunday through Oct. 12 at Larson Middle School (1600 W. First Ave. in Grandview).
- Ray Ray’s Hog Pit’s Old North location finally leaves its long-time home at Ace of Cups and opens in the former Wizard of Za space, attached to Fusian, on Tuesday, June 3. The new space is located at 4214 N. High St.
- The Milkshake Factory has opened a Columbus location at 1333 N. High St. near campus. The Pittsburgh-based milkshake bar first opened as a chocolatier in 1914 and has expanded to a couple dozen locations, mainly around the eastern United States.
- Last week Playa Bowls has opened its newest store at 1515 Gemini Pl. near Polaris. This is the fifth central Ohio location.
- Racha Tea, Boba, and Desserts in Whitehall is hosting a night market this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening from 4-10 p.m., with a variety of food and craft vendors. Racha is located at 561 S. Hamilton Rd. in Whitehall.
