Right near the busy intersection of North Broadway and High Street in Clintonville, an eatery based out of New Jersey popped up in late December 2024: Food Street! And let me tell you, Columbus, we’re lucky to have it here.

Food Street features a fusion of Pakistani street fare and American eats. The original location kicked off in Secaucus, and family members brought the Columbus store to life.

Food Street is part of the new build on the southwest corner of the intersection, occupying the southernmost storefront. The open space features a colorful, floor-to-ceiling mural; rows of tables; and a small lounge area that includes two floating chairs suspended from the ceiling.

When you order at the counter, you’ll see the kitchen crew busy at work; it’s especially fun to see them working the tandoori oven.

On the beverage side, Food Street features a mango lassi, non-alcoholic mojitos, and chai.

The mojitos come in flavors like strawberry and mango, and are very refreshing, with plenty of fresh mint on top.

The chai is rich and spicy, and comes with your choice of sweeteners.

Food Street’s menu is separated into three sections: On the Buns, We Rollin’, and Street Food.

We started with a couple bites from the Street Food menu. First up was the giant gappa chaat, a large gappa (or cracker) filled with yogurt and chutneys. You’ll have to attack it with a spoon!

We also tasted the gol goppay (also known as pani puri in some parts of the world), which are delightful little bites filled with spiced potatoes, yogurt, chutneys, and chickpeas.

Our entrees touched on a couple different corners of the menu.

First off, and I think the real winner in the bunch, is the chicken tikka paratha roll. The seasoned and grilled chicken is rolled with different condiments in a paratha flatbread and served with two chutneys for dipping. If you need one place to start on Food Street’s menu, I’d say it’s here. We can’t wait to get back there to try more of the paratha rolls.

The spicy crispy chicken sandwich should win over any fans of chicken sandwiches. The meat was tender and juicy, the portion big, all with the right amount of heat. (There’s a non-spicy version, too.)

Food Street also features a collection of burgers. This is the mushroom beef burger with mushrooms, grilled onions, cheese, and the same spicy sauce.

If anyone in your crew prefers straight-up chicken tenders and fries, you’ll find that Food Street does them justice as well. Great seasoning, wonderfully crispy.

Don’t skip the desserts! The kulfi is a frozen dessert rolled in crushed pistachios.

The falooda also offers a cooling bite to finish your meal. It’s a vanilla-heavy concoction with vermicelli noodles and crushed pistachios.

I think Food Street will quickly become a regular stop for us!

Food Street is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
